The Wood Products Council’s WoodWorks program is hosting a lunch seminar in Jacksonville, presented by Jeff Peters, PE, Southwest Technical Advisor, WoodWorks: “Practical and inspirational — Exposing the potential of heavy timber construction.”

“This presentation focuses on the use of heavy timber in applications such as offices and schools, as well as civic, industrial, mid-rise/multi-residential and other building types,” a WoodWorks announcement says. “Included will be a review of non-structural provisions in the International Building Code and a discussion of structural component and connection methods available. Example projects ranging from typical to unique will be used to illustrate the range of modern timber design solutions available and their ability to provide unlimited aesthetic opportunities for almost any building type.”

The program will  take place at Maggiano’s Little Italy, St. Johns Town Center, 10367 Midtown Pkwy., Jacksonville, on Aug. 25.  There is a $20 fee, which includes lunch.  The program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. To register, see woodworks.org/events-calendar/upcoming.
