Skanska USA appoints industry veteran as Florida GM

Global construction and development firm Skanska USA has recently named industry veteran Michael Brown as executive vice president/general manager of its Florida office.

Prior to joining Skanska, Brown served as Gilbane Building Company’s senior vice president/regional manager. All in all, the University of Michigan alumnus has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of: business development, project management, and client or civic relations.

As general manager, Brown’s duties include leading Skanska’s building operations in the region, and strengthening the Florida office’s performance in customer support, operational efficiency, and sustainability. He is also responsible for ensuring the professional growth and success of more than 700 employees working on projects across Florida, and Skanska branches in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando. Brown will be based in the Tampa office.

Brown worked at Gilbane Building Company for a total of 19 years. Charged with management of southeast operations, he was based in the firm’s regional office in Atlanta, Georgia.

Aside from being an industry leader, the new Skanska executive has also been an active community member with civic roles in the following organizations: plan commission chairman for the City of Naperville, Illinois; board member of Covenant House of Georgia, AFSP Georgia; and board member of the North Central College Advisory.
