The Weitz Company, a national full-service general contracting firm headquartered in Iowa, has announced the promotion of Jim Wells from vice-president of the company’s Florida operations to executive vice-president responsible for business development and marketing company-wide.
The company says in its announcement that Wells, a licensed professional engineer and general contractor, has served in various project management, operations and leadership roles at Weitz since joining the company in 2006. He is credited with acquiring and leading numerous projects for Weitz, including the Palm Beach County Convention Center Parking Garage, Wellington City Hall, and the Jupiter Island Beach Club, the news release said.
Before joining Weitz, Wells was a manager of construction at Florida Power & Light, overseeing the development of real estate capital improvement projects. He began his career after earning an aerospace engineering degree from the University of Florida. He later studied business management at Duke University’s top-rated Fuqua School of Business.
Wells plans to maintain his Palm Beach County residence while serving in this new national role.
