The Florida Building Materials Association is seeking a lead sponsor to partner with the association and the Roc Solid Foundation to build a custom backyard playset for a Florida child battling cancer.

The project would benefit Aiden, a local child undergoing pediatric cancer treatment, and is part of Roc Solid Foundation’s national effort to provide safe, private play environments for children with compromised immune systems.

Because cancer treatments can limit children’s ability to play in public spaces, organizers say backyard playsets offer more than recreation. “When kids are playing, they aren’t thinking about cancer,” the association said in a statement. “This project is about giving Aiden the chance to have fun and simply be a kid again.”

Under the program’s “You Lead” model, the sponsoring company would serve as the lead builder for the project, providing a foreman and a volunteer crew of approximately 10 to 15 people. The build typically takes four to five hours to complete.

The playset will be shipped directly to the sponsor’s facility, with the sponsoring team responsible for transporting the materials, tools and supplies to the family’s home on build day.

The Florida Building Materials Association said the partnership reflects the construction industry’s ability to use its skills and resources to make a direct impact in local communities.

Roc Solid Foundation is a nonprofit organization that builds free backyard playsets for children fighting cancer, with the goal of restoring hope and normalcy during treatment.

Companies interested in serving as the lead sponsor are encouraged to contact the Florida Building Materials Association for additional details.
