Jackson North Medical Center in North Miami Beach will undergo a $121 million expansion and renovation, according to the South Florida Business Journal.
The expansion, which has been designed by Gresham, Smith and Partners (GS&P), will include 10 new operating rooms of about 600 sq. ft. each, an expanded emergency department, a new 30-room intensive care unit, three new labor and delivery rooms and a new entrance and lobby.
“These improvements will provide more options for comprehensive healthcare in North Miami Beach and help Jackson Health System build a stable financial future,” said GS&P senior vice-president Luis J. Cano. “We are proud to work alongside Jackson Health System as it progresses through this transformative period.”
The project falls under Jackson Health System’s $1.8 billion initiative to update its facilities over the next 10 years.
Construction is expected to start in the third quarter of 2017. The project should be completed in 2020.
