Construction is underway on a new road to the Jacksonville National Cemetery.

Resident News reports that the project, called the North Jacksonville Parkway, will make it much easier to get to and from funerals and other events at the 526-acre cemetery.

The $12.8 million project will connect Lannie Rd., at the Ethel Rd. intersection, and Arnold Rd. The 3.4 miles long road will be maintained by the City of Jacksonville.

Construction is expected to complete the parkway during the fall of 2021.
