The Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) announced the City of St. Augustine First Baptist Church institutional rehabilitation project as the winner of the Culture and Historic Preservation category of the 2023 Northeast Florida Regional Leadership Awards.

The NEFRC recognizes the best projects and the brightest leaders in the region each year.

“This is an exciting opportunity to be recognized throughout the Northeast Florida Region for the work that we are doing here at the city as it relates to cultural and historical preservation,” said Jaime D. Perkins, neighborhood services and community redevelopment agency (CRA) manager.  “We all know how important historic preservation is to us here at the City of St. Augustine and within our CRA, and to be recognized and awarded for the work, is indeed a great honor”.

The NEFRC is an independent, regional government agency serving Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Putnam, Nassau, and St. Johns counties and providing a regional perspective on economic development, emergency preparedness, resiliency, and community development.
