Construction companies in Southwest Florida are concerned about the shortage of skilled workers.
There is a high demand for new construction workers, but contractors are struggling to find enough workers, according to Wink News.
William Varian, the CEO of Naples-based Varian Construction, has expressed his concerns regarding the shortage of skilled workers in the construction market.
He sees a decline in numbers of young people joining the construction industry in his 30 years of experience. “The skilled people are not there anymore,” he told the publication.
Earlier this year, a survey by the Associated General Contractors of America in Arlington suggested that there will be a high demand for construction workers, both salaried and skilled, in Florida in 2019. At the same time, the survey predicted the shortage of skilled construction workers this year, a trend which has been observed for many years, as reported by the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
