Data released by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity reveals that construction job growth boomed in South Florida while unemployment declined in August, the Sun Sentinel reports.

According to the state, Broward County added 3,900 jobs in construction, Palm Beach County added 3,800, and Miami-Dade County, 6,700.

However, the construction industry says that it is facing an acute shortage of workers, especially for those in the skilled trades.

“Growth would be even stronger if labor supply growth was stronger,” Gus Faucher, senior economist for PNC Bank, was quoted as saying by the Sentinel.
