The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) has been conducting an extensive investigation into the Surfside Condo collapse and a March 26 luncheon and seminar in Toronto, Canada will delve into various aspects of the building, including its design, maintenance, deterioration, collapse, and the ongoing NIST investigation.

Presented by the Sealant and Waterproofing Association of Canada, the goal of the event is “to extract valuable lessons that can benefit professionals working in the field of building restoration.”

The event will be held at the Vue Event Space, 194 Galaxy Blvd. in Toronto. Registration is at noon, followed by lunch and seminars. The goal is to extract valuable lessons that can benefit professionals working in the field of building restoration.

In June 2021, the 12-storey condominium in Surfside, Florida collapsed, resulting in the loss of 98 lives.

Professional engineer Sally Thompson from Synergy Partners, will speak at the March 26 event.

Thompson has been practicing since 1990. She specializes in the condominium industry, focusing on performance audits and reserve fund studies. Sally also has extensive experience providing engineering services for restoring existing buildings. Beyond her professional work. She is an active volunteer, dedicated to improving the condominium industry and educating its participants.
