Developers are planning to build a multi-million surfing complex and a mixed-use development project in the city of Fort Pierce.

Willow Lakes is a 200-acre community development that will include at least 800 residential homes, 600 hotel rooms, 400,000 sq. ft. of retail space and 125,000 sq. ft. of office space, reports Inman.

The $595 project is anticipated to create about 3,400 jobs during the construction phase. The first phase will feature the WaveGarden simulated surfing park, food and beverage facilities, and possibly a 150-room hotel.

Developers are planning to start construction in the third quarter of 2021, pending all permits and approvals.
