The City of Fort Lauderdale has hired a team of surveying companies to document the precise location of all of the city’s water infrastructure including water mains, valves, meters and fire hydrants.
Information collected during the assessment will be used to produce a detailed map of all water infrastructure in the city that can then be used guide operations and maintenance activities and help the officials plan for future capital improvement initiatives.Work is being called “a high-priority project” and is being conducted by:

- Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM)
- Keith & Associates, Inc.
- M. G. Vera & Associates, Inc.
- Craig A. Smith & Associates, Inc.
- InfraMap
- Zeman Group
- Ritzel‐Mason
- McLaughlin Engineering
- Stoner & Associates
These firms will be utilizing a variety of mapping and utility locating methods to identify all surface and underground water infrastructure maintained by the City of Fort Lauderdale.
Mapping is expected to be completed in December 2024.
