A Florida lobbyist has purchased the site of the Florida Homebuilders Association and adjacent property to build a $15 to $20 million office building in downtown Tallahassee.

Brian Ballard, CEO of Ballard Partners, expects to break ground on the six-story project in January.  It will have a high-end restaurant and a roof-top terrace.

“We thought that if we’re going to build something for us, we want to go ahead and make something significant for downtown,” Ballard told The Tallahassee Democrat.

Ballard and his wife paid $3 million for both properties. They have hired Lewis + Whitlock as architects and Culpepper Construction to construct the new building.
