Attorneys from the South Florida office of Smith Currie & Hancock LLP took time off from their firm retreat to participate in the firm-sponsored community project with Help Build Hope.

The organization works with businesses, churches, schools and other groups to build the frame for a home that is then donated to a partnering organization that helps complete it for a family in need.

The lawyers worked in partnership with Help Build Hope to frame the house, for a family with a child who has special needs. Nailing the frame took diligence and hard work, but the co-operation among the participants resulted in a strong framework for the house, and fulfilled the firm’s new tagline, From the Ground Up.

“This was an ideal adjunct to our firm retreat as it was a way to build bonds among the attorneys, and also help the community,” said Brian Wolf, a partner in the firm’s South Florida office, who brought his family to share in the experience. “Besides doing something very meaningful, we gained greater insight about the power of working together and the importance of hands-on hard work.”
