Florida Hospital officials have moved forward with plans to build a new freestanding emergency department in east Orange County off Lake Underhill Rd. when Adventist Health System applied for a permit to begin site work on the 1.82-acre project.

The hospital plans to build a 24-bed, 18,500 sq. ft. emergency department called Florida Hospital Waterford Lakes on a site in front of an existing BJ’s Wholesale Club.

Florida Hospital’s application was being represented by Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc., an Orlando design consulting firm. HuntonBrady Architects is the architect and Littlejohn Engineering Associates is the landscape architect. The development will create new opportunities for construction firms, subcontractors and vendors, Orlando Business Journal reports.
