Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)‘s OnBoard4Jobs construction careers program has partnered with Orlando Public Library to bridge connections among students, job seekers and veterans to roadway construction careers.

“There is a demand for workforce,” says Jill Kupferberg Cappadoro, vice-president of Quest Corporation of America, Inc. “Contractors are hiring and OnBoard4Jobs Construction Careers is organizing this job fair to connect them with job seekers.This program is an initiative of the FDOT specific to the transportation industry.”

Job seekers, ages 18 and older, are invited to participate to meet road and bridge-construction contractors hiring for jobs throughout Central Florida. ‘

Contractors seek to fill positions including general laborers, carpenters, concrete finishers, flaggers, truck drivers, heavy machine operators, asphalt pavers, pipe fitters and a variety of other construction positions.

Even those without road construction experience are encouraged to attend if they are interested in learning more about the industry.

FDOT representatives, contractors and industry resources will be on hand to discuss: On-the-job training opportunities, skilled worker opportunities, and provide advice on the development of career and job skills, effective interview techniques and resume development.

The program takes place on March 14 from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Albertson Room, 3rd floor, Orlando Public Library, 101 East Central Blvd.

Job seekers are encouraged to attend and to bring their resumes. There will be on-site support for those interested in assistance with development of a resume. For more information contact
