Construction is expected to start in June or July to revamp the Clearwater Beach Marina and create a link to the Beach Walk promenade.
The planned Marina Walk project includes creating a walkable destination along the waterfront by building a large boardwalk area, adding new floating docks for transient users, and amenities such as eclectic boat-charging stations and ticketing kiosks.
Moffat and Nichol Inc. is the contractor for the project. The scope of work includes:
- Replace aging docks
- Replace and modernize marina utilities
- Optimize marina slip mix and layout
- Maximize city-owned submerged lands, but maintain existing slip count and balance
- Create ticket sales locations
- Reduce congestion along Coronado Drive
- Activate “Marina Walk”
- Maintain commercial operations during construction
- Provide two boat slips for water taxi
- Replace/raise bulkhead
Fixed docks and gangway access platforms will be raised 15 to 24 inches to accommodate rising water levels and bulkhead replacement will raise the cap by 15 to 18 inches to meet minimum height requirements.
Also, EV charging stations and electric boat charging added to the area.
