Jacksonville-based Batson-Cook is the general contractor for the $20 million Adventist Care Center’s nursing facility that has created 130 construction jobs in Kissimmee.
There was a groundbreaking ceremony on March 30.
“I think the project is going to make a statement of what the new generation of senior care is going to look like. It’s a more holistic approach,” Ed Varnes, Batson-Cook’s vice-president of health care, told the Orlando Business Journal.
A few subcontractor opportunities are still available, he said.
The two-story, 85,000-sq. ft. building will have 120 beds in 300-sq. ft. rooms with private bathrooms. There also will be a 4,000-sq. ft. therapy gym for physical and occupational therapy.
The center will be built at 1290 Celebration Blvd., next to Windsor’s senior living facility that’s being constructed. Adventist Care Centers CEO Michelle Givens said a walkway will be built between the two structures.
