The non-profit ACE Mentor Program of Northeast Florida (ACE) says it raised $31,273 at its inaugural Sporting Clay Fundraiser on Sept. 23 at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports.
The proceeds will be applied to the organization’s 2021-2022 programming efforts.
“As we emerge through this pandemic, the ongoing support for students across Northeast Florida continues to be at the forefront”, ACE affiliate director Nicole Eubanks said in a Sept. 30 statement. “Thanks to the support and sponsorship from local organizations and individuals, we were able to hold an event and continue to support our mission to engage, excite and inspire high school students to pursue careers in the architecture, construction and engineering industry.”
As the construction industry’s significant workforce labor shortage continues to grow, the demand for mentor program has never been more crucial, ACE says.
The after-school program is open to high school students who have the curiosity and drive to learn about a career in design and construction. Students meet at various locations in Northeast Florida to design, schedule and estimate a ‘real-world’ project with the help of practicing industry professionals. More than 15 volunteers helped coordinate the event.
Registration is now open for the 2021-2022 school year which runs December through April.
