The City of Jacksonville has awarded a $9.8 million contract to Hal Jones Contractor to repair and rebuild the Jacksonville Beach Pier.

The project includes major upgrades and repairs, including a bait shop and restaurant, Wokv reports.

The Jacksonville Beach Pier partially reopened in March 2018. The pier was closed due to damage sustained during Hurricane Matthew in October 2016 and additional damage from Hurricane Irma in September 2017.

Construction is set to begin this November and will take up to two years to complete.
