Skanska USA Building Inc. says it will seek subcontractor bids in August for two Valencia College projects: A film, sound and music technology building (east campus) and a plant operations structure. Both buildings have been designed by architect DLR Group.
Valencia spokeswoman Carol Traynor provided additional details about the projects to the Orlando Business Journal.
Plant operations ($2.6 million): The 16,000-sq. ft. building, housing offices and storage facilities for grounds, maintenance, custodial teams and a mechanical shop.
Film department and sound and music technology programs building ($9.2 million): This 30,000-sq. ft. building f will also feature a 125-person theater and a 2,500-sq. ft. soundstage. It is expected to break ground in May, 2016.
The college also plans to release a request for qualifications for a construction manager for the new $23 million Poinciana campus. Construction on that project is scheduled to start next summer.
