Printed Farms has announced the successful completion of the world’s largest 3D printed building, a luxury horse barn, was built using Printed FarmsCO’ BOD’s BOD2 construction 3D printer.

The equestrian facility as a total floor area of 10,105 sq. ft. and a height of 13 feet. The total length of the building is 155 ft. and the width is 83 ft.Situated in Wellington in Southern Florida, the printed building has been constructed to withstand extreme local weather conditions including hurricanes and tropical storms. The 3D printed walls create a cavity and air gap for natural cooling to the entire building. The build process involved five moves of the printer with the two sides completed twice and the middle section executed once.

“Printed Farms has done a remarkable job in completing this massive structure and the project demonstrates again how 3D printing is transforming the construction industry for the better,” said Philip Lund-Nielsen, COBOD co-founder. “COBOD is proud to be technology supplier to yet another record-breaking 3D printing project on US soil which comes only shortly after the completion of the US’ first two story 3D printed building in Texas, also using our BOD2 3D printer.”

COBOD’s 3D printers made Europe’s first building in 2017 and the first two- and three-story buildings in Europe (Belgium and Germany), North America (US and Canada) and India. Also, the first 3D printed villa in Dubai and buildings in Africa have been done by COBOD 3D construction printers, just like the first wind turbine bases.
