West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction says it held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 22 to mark the start of construction for The Pointe on Westshore, a multi-family apartment and townhome community in Tampa developed by Jupiter, FL-based Index Investments. This marks Verdex’s first project beyond Florida’s east coast.
The Pointe on Westshore at 4950 West Prescott St., will consist of six, five-story buildings with 444 apartments and 14 two-story townhomes, along with a two-story, 11,000-sq. ft. clubhouse featuring two pools and a fitness center. Total construction cost is estimated at $75 million.
“With dramatic population growth across Florida, it’s logical that Verdex should expand its core market geography beyond Florida’s east coast, so we can bring our brand promise of ‘Building Something Better’ to other parts of the state,” Verdex Construction president Rex Kirby said in a statement. “Index Investments is a great partner, and we look forward to being a key component of their goal to bring top-quality, new residential options to Tampa.”
The Point on Westshore will be built across a 23-acre site, and the buildings total 679,563 sq. ft. The project is expected to be completed in February 2021.
Verdex projects currently underway or recently finished in South Florida include the Canopy Hotel in Downtown West Palm Beach; 1000 North, an restaurant/club on the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter; Sabbia Beach Condominiums, a 19-story, 68 unit residential tower in Pompano Beach; and the Town Southern apartments in Royal Palm Beach.
