Jacksonville-based Superior Construction Company Southeast, a heavy civil contractor, has been awarded two contracts through the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) totaling roughly $112.5 million.

The contracts are for improvements on the Interstate 295 and U.S. 17 Interchange, and the Interstate 4 and Daryl Carter Parkway Interchange.

The work being done for the I-295 area includes milling and resurfacing the current roadway, widening part of U.S. 17, building new walls for sidewalks, and realigning the north and southbound exit ramps to include three right turn lanes and two left turn lanes.

The company has also been selected to complete another project on I-295 from the Buckman Bridge to west of U.S. 17, which will be completed in late 2024.

“We’re proud to continue to build our robust portfolio of transportation projects in Florida and will work diligently to ensure we meet our clients’ expectations while keeping our team members safe,” Superior Construction CEO Nick Largura said in a statement.

The second contract includes a design-build project for I-4 at Daryl Carter Parkway Interchange. This project will include converting the Daryl Carter Parkway overpass into a diverging diamond interchange, giving commuters an alternative route to destinations in the Lake Buena Vista area.

Three new ramps to connect I-4 and Daryl Carter Parkway will also be added, including two exit ramps from each direction as well as an entrance ramp to eastbound I-4.
