Stevens Construction begins renovation of Thrive Academy facility in Cape Coral

Stevens Construction has started renovation work on a building at the Thrive Academy campus in Cape Coral, expanding educational space for students with autism spectrum disorder.

The project, announced by special projects division manager Joseph Cimilluca, involves the complete interior overhaul of an existing 7,824-sq. ft. building located at 3221 Chiquita Blvd.Working on behalf of Family Initiative, the contractor’s special projects team is gutting and reconfiguring the structure to better support the needs of Thrive Academy. Once complete, the renovated facility will feature seven classrooms, a STEM lab, sensory room, staff childcare space and administrative offices.

Construction is scheduled for completion in July.

Family Initiative is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families through education, therapy and community-based services.

The project team from Stevens Construction includes Special Projects Manager Zach Mascarelli, Superintendent Nate Shaddix and Administrator Kelly Escorcia. The renovation was designed by Studio+.

Launched in 2018, Stevens Construction’s special projects division focuses on renovations, tenant improvements and repair work valued under $1.5 million. The team self-performs key scopes with in-house trades, providing greater flexibility in scheduling as well as enhanced quality and cost control.
