The Springfield Preservation and Revitalization (SPAR) Board voted unanimously to support Corner Lot’s new 1St and Main multi-family development recently, the Jacksonville-based developer says in a May 27 statement.

‘“We respect the time and commitment SPAR dedicates to Springfield and enjoyed working with the staff and board on 1st and Main,” said Corner Lot CEO Andy Allen. “We’re excited to be a part of this historic neighborhood’s revitalization and look forward to the residents of 1st and Main shopping, dining, and enjoying all that Springfield has to offer.”

The project at 1100 North Main St. will occupy a parcel between 1st Street and 2nd Street at an intersection widely considered to be the gateway to Springfield. The new development will surround a circa 1928 art deco structure that was originally home to Jacksonville’s first Chevrolet dealership.

Once complete, the mixed-use urban development will include 201 market-rate studio, one bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments and more than 6,000 sq. ft. of commercial space to accommodate retail or restaurant tenants, the developer says.

The development is scheduled to break ground in Winter 2023 and be complete in winter of 2024.
