The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) and the City of Clearwater have officially broken ground on a new transit center, replacing the 42-year-old Park Street Terminal that serves thousands of daily riders traveling to work, school, and other destinations.

The new Clearwater Station, located at Court Street and Myrtle Avenue near the Pinellas Trail and the city’s new City Hall, will be twice the size of the existing facility. It is designed to serve more than 2,300 riders daily and will feature a range of modern amenities, including electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels, covered bike racks, retail space, and real-time arrival information. The station will also provide connections to multimodal services such as Uber, Lyft, and PSTA Access.

The project is funded in part by a $20 million RAISE grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, with additional contributions from PSTA, the City of Clearwater, the Florida Department of Transportation, and Forward Pinellas. PSTA officials say the transit center is a key step in improving regional transportation infrastructure and supporting downtown Clearwater’s revitalization.

“Today was a truly historic day for PSTA and the City of Clearwater,” said a statement from project leaders, thanking longtime Board Member and Clearwater City Council member David Allbritton, who helped advocate for funding in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C.

Construction is expected to continue through late 2026 or early 2027, with officials pledging a modern, accessible, and efficient facility that will better serve the community for decades to come.
