The City of Naples has approved the DPZ CoDESIGN Master Plan for the newly designated Naples Design District, previously known as the 41-10 Mixed-Use Area.
The master plan outlines strategies focused on three key goals:
- Strengthen Existing Character: Ensure that improvements and redevelopment align with the neighborhood’s unique character and urban fabric.
- Promote Business Growth: Encourage new business opportunities while maintaining affordable housing options.
- Support Multi-Generational Community: Implement placemaking policies that cater to a diverse population, particularly seniors.
The Naples Design District aims to join 5th Avenue South and 3rd Street South as a thriving hub for living, working, dining, entertainment, and shopping, to enhance the district’s unique strengths, foster prosperity, and create a vibrant local destination.
“The Naples Design District Master Plan reflects the community’s vision for maintaining the area’s unique qualities while enhancing its assets to create a dynamic space that embodies Naples’ values,” said Anita Jenkins, CRA Administrator.
This initiative was sparked by new investments in the area known for its concentration of art and décor businesses between US-41 and 10th Street, as a result the Speak Up Naples platform, which allowed community members to share their ideas and concerns.
“The Naples Design District is an eclectic area with immense potential. This Master Plan from DPZ CoDESIGN is the foundation for its evolution. We’re excited about the future of this jewel in the City of Naples,” said Vice Mayor Mike McCabe, CRA chair.
Existing infrastructure will be enhanced, including a unique alleyway system, and introduce the Design Walk, a promenade that will complement the area’s art, design, and dining scene. Additionally, improvements will be made to connectivity with nearby destinations.
