Miami Beach officials approved a proposal from a New York-based developer to build an office building across from Soundscape Park.
The city’s Historic Preservation Board granted approval this week to Shvo for One Soundscape Park, a plan to replace the 10,111-sq. ft. office/commercial building at 1665 and 1667 Washington Ave. with a 6-story office building. The plan includes 52,500 square feet of office and commercial space with an amenity deck on the roof.
“We are delighted to have secured the Historic Preservation Board’s approval for One Soundscape Park, and grateful for the overwhelming support the project has received from a broad range of stakeholders, reinforcing our commitment to bringing world class design and architecture to Miami Beach,” developer Michael Shvo said in a news release.
The development was designed by Peter Marino in collaboration with Kobi Karp Architects and will include 52,500 sq. ft. of Class A commercial space featuring panoramic exposures of Soundscape Park, South Beach, and the Atlantic Ocean.
The building features a “hospitality-driven lobby” and five floors of vibrant office space with private loggia terraces. The façade is a composition of white vertical fins that vary in density and pitch lining floor-to-ceiling glazing, which also provide an environmentally responsive solar shading device that maximizes internal daylight.
Additional projects currently underway by SHVO in Miami Beach include The Alton at 1656-1680 Alton Road, designed by Foster + Partners, and the redevelopment of the Raleigh Hotel and Residences, to be operated by Rosewood Hotel & Resorts, also being designed by Peter Marino.
