Maynard Nexsen, a full-service law firm with 31 locations across the United States, has announced the addition of four attorneys to the firm’s nationally recognized Construction Practice Group. Brent Bell joins the Orlando office, while Adam Richie, Garrett Hicks and Tim Word join the Austin office. Each of them bring a wealth of experience serving clients in Florida, Texas and across the country.

“We are proud of the growth our team has seen in the past several years. Our combination of exceptional lawyers and clients has attracted more of both, and we have been very fortunate.” said Harper Heckman, Chair of Maynard Nexsen’s Construction practice group. “Adam, Garrett, Tim and Brent are seasoned lawyers with multi-faceted industry expertise and experience. Our clients will benefit greatly from their professional backgrounds and their location in dynamic markets.”

Brent Bell is based in Orlando, where he represents a wide range of clients, including developers, lenders, owners, homebuilders, manufacturers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and individuals, in both personal and business matters. Brent’s experience is multi-faceted, including litigation and transactions in construction as well as product liability, foreclosure and workout, landlord/tenant, property re-purposing, land title claims, and real estate.

In Austin, Adam Richie represents a diverse range of clients in the construction industry and is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction that reflects his expertise and dedication to the field. Before practicing law full-time, Adam worked as a registered mechanical engineer at a prominent engineering firm in Houston, Texas. His hands-on experience in the construction industry gives him valuable insight into the challenges his clients face, allowing him to deliver practical, results-oriented legal solutions.

Garrett Hicks is a skilled construction attorney with substantial experience advising clients through all phases of commercial development and construction. He routinely drafts and negotiates complex design, construction, and development agreements, including those for large-scale industrial facilities, commercial developments, and public infrastructure projects. In addition to his transactional practice, Garrett is an accomplished civil trial attorney with a proven record of favorable results in state and federal courts.

Tim Word’s practice focuses on construction law, where he has experience with construction disputes, securing lien and bond rights, and negotiating construction contracts. He formerly served as a Judicial Intern for The Honorable Judge Steel in the 274th District Court in Texas. Before becoming a lawyer, Tim was a field supervisor and special project coordinator in the construction industry, giving him unique insight into the challenges faced by his construction industry clients.
