There’s still time to comment on a seawall replacement project in Jacksonville.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) hosted public meetings in January to share details of the project proposed along A1A from Bridge of Lions to Charlotte Street in Jacksonville.  The Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study evaluates the alternatives for replacement of the existing seawall which is at the end of its service life.

Comments must be received by Feb. 5 to be included in the formal meeting Email the FDOT Project Manager Daniel Penniman at daniel.penniman@dot.state.fl.us; or mail comments to FDOT District 2 Office at 1109 South Marion Avenue, MS 2007, Lake City, Florida 32025.This project aims to replace the seawall while enhancing storm protection and maintaining the aesthetics of the area.

The estimated cost of the project is $45 million and construction is expected in 2026. Project details and materials can be found online at www.nflroads.com/seawall.
