The Town of Fort Myers Beach has submitted grant applications totaling $15.7 million to the Lee County Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Infrastructure and Public Facilities Programs.

Funding from the program is available to Lee County to support long-term recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian.

Fort Myers is looking to fund projects island-wide, including the  North (West) Island Water Tower and Facility and Parks and Recreation Projects.

Also parks and recreation projects would include Old San Carlos & Time Square Lighting Projects, Bay Oaks Community Pool Project, and Newton Park Beach Facility – designed to create improvements for the entire community in a continued effort toward recovery.

The competitive funding programs are available to municipalities within Lee County. All projects under these programs must meet a HUD National Objective as outlined by Lee County in the action plan.
