The City of Fort Lauderdale is reimagining city hall after a 1,000-year flood caused significant damage.

According to a statement, the city is set to transform the outdated infrastructure, in collaboration with the Infrastructure Task Force, Dickey Consulting Services, Inc., and the American Institute of Architects student chapter at Florida Atlantic University. The project goal is to create “a new, modern, resilient, and community-focused space”.

A series of public workshops have been scheduled to collect input that will be used to create the principles to guide the design and construction of the new city hall.

Workshop 1 – Introduction
Dec. 2 from 9 to 11 am.
Location: Florida Atlantic University MetroLAB (111 E Las Olas Boulevard)

Workshop 2 – Spacing Allocation
Jan. 13 from 9 to 11 am
Location: L.A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center (1409 NW 6th St.)

Workshop 3 – Amenities
Feb. 17, 2024 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Location: Holiday Park Social Center (1150 G. Harold Martin Dr.)

Workshop 4 – Finance and Procurement Process
Mar. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Location: Beach Community Center (3351 NE 33rd Ave.)

Workshop 5 – Review and Next Steps
Apr. 20, 2024 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Location: Holiday Park Social Center (1150 G. Harold Martin Dr.)

Also, virtual surveys are available at ftlcity.info/rch. Residents, business owners, and stakeholders are encouraged to share their insights and ideas.
