The Fort Lauderdale City Commission has approved Holiday Park Parking Partners as the developer for a new multi-use parking and public safety project at Holiday Park, city officials announced Wednesday.
The project will include a new parking garage with a rooftop vertiport, a surface-level public parking lot, and an integrated Fire-Rescue/EMS substation near NE 8 Street and NE 10 Avenue. Officials said the improvements are intended to meet growing parking demand and enhance emergency response capabilities in the area.
“Holiday Park is one of Fort Lauderdale’s most well-known community spaces and is a hub for activity and leisure,” Mayor Dean Trantalis said. “This project reflects our commitment to respect the environment and plan thoughtfully for the future.”
Holiday Park hosts several major city facilities, including The Parker, the FTL War Memorial Auditorium, Baptist Health IcePlex and the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center. City leaders said the new parking and emergency services facilities will help accommodate current and future needs driven by continued growth in the surrounding area.
“By expanding parking capacity and enhancing emergency response capabilities, we’re investing in both quality of life and public safety for our residents and visitors,” Commissioner Steven Glassman said. “Our commitment goes beyond working for today. The vertiport demonstrates the City’s commitment to working for the future.”
City officials said the final project scope, including costs, timelines and operational details, will be determined through negotiations with the developer and returned to the City Commission for review and approval at a future public meeting.
