Construction has started on a new $58 million Oviedo Medical Center to serve more than 35,000 residents in Oviedo and east Seminole County.
The HCA Holdings Inc. hospital is being built by Layton Construction and has been designed by architect Gould Tanner Group.
The three-story, 198,000-sq. ft. hospital will be an addition to the 12-bed, 11,000-sq. ft. Oviedo emergency room, which also is set to expand to 20 beds. r will create about 200 new jobs, many of which hospital CEO K.C. Donahey expects will be filled by local medical professionals, Orlando Business Journal has reported.
Donahey said there was “a demonstrated need” for a full-service hospital in the area. Beyond offering high quality and cost effective health care to the community, he said residents can expect it to “look and feel more like a hotel.”
The new hospital opening date has been set for January 2017.
