Coastal Construction, based in South Florida, has been chosen to build a 35-story apartment tower in downtown Tampa.
The Silverstein Properties’ project at 540 E. Cass St. will include 450 apartment units, 500 parking spaces and 9,000 sq. ft. of commercial space. It will also include a pool, tenant lounges with workspaces and a fitness center.
Arquitectonica is the project’s architect and interior designer.
Silverstein purchased the vacant lot in 2022 from 1754 Properties and Triangle Capital, which spun off the site after acquiring the Floridan Palace hotel for $19.75 million.
“Downtown Tampa is going through an extraordinary transformation — and these new residences will give more people the chance to live within walking distance of shops, restaurants and top attractions like the Straz Center, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and the Riverwalk,” Sean DeMartino, Central Florida president for Coastal, said in a statement.
Coastal’s other Tampa projects include the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Tampa, on Bayshore Boulevard and the Arts and Entertainment Residences tower under construction near the David A. Straz Jr. Center for Performing Arts. It also built the JW Marriott and Heron apartments in Water Street.
