City of Orlando breaks ground on Southeast Community and Government Center

The City of Orlando, the Orange County Library System and the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority recently broke ground on a new community and government center, along with a library in Southeast Orlando.

H.J. High Construction is the project’s general contractor.

Published reports indicate the government center has a $10 million cost, while the costs for the library structure were unavailable.

A 20,000-sq. ft. library, designed by Borrelli + Partners, will feature spaces for children, teens, and adults, along with meeting rooms, study areas, an exterior performance stage, and more.

At 15,000 sq. ft., the Southeast Community and Government Center (SCGC) was designed by Zyscovich Architects as a multi-functional facility tailored to meet the diverse needs of the growing community. It will serve as a regional police substation, it will facilitate enhanced coordination among the 17 police districts in the Southeast Orlando area.

The site will include a satellite office for the District 1 City Commissioner and will offer convenient access to services such as Permitting, Code Enforcement, Communications and Neighborhood Relations, and Families, Parks and Recreation for residents and visitors. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
