CitroTech has partnered with Global Fireproof Solutions to expand the use of its non-toxic fire inhibitor across the Southeast, with a focus on agricultural, equestrian and rural applications.
Global Fireproof Solutions, which provides fire-retardant treatments for wood products and specialty materials, will integrate CitroTech’s fire inhibitor into its treatment capabilities under the strategic partnership.
The companies said the collaboration will create new applications for farms, equine facilities, livestock operations, outdoor structures and other environments where fire protection is needed to protect people, animals and property.
“For decades, GFS has built a reputation for innovation in fire protection treatments and code-compliant fire performance,” Kevin Schaff, CitroTech’s global head of business development, said in a statement. “CitroTech’s non-toxic inhibitor extends GFS’s commitment to technical expertise into the farms, barns, equine facilities and outdoor structures that rural and agricultural communities depend on.”
GFS has completed CitroTech’s certified partner training program, including hands-on testing and application of the product. The company joins CitroTech’s network of more than 20 certified partners.
CitroTech said its citric acid-derived formulation is designed to provide long-term fire protection while avoiding some of the chemicals used in conventional fire-retardant treatments. The company said the product is recognized under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice program, is UL GREENGUARD Gold certified and has passed ASTM E84 Extended testing.
Unlike pressure-treated lumber products that can use chemical treatments such as borates, CitroTech said its formulation is engineered to penetrate wood at the molecular level to help prevent ignition without compromising the material’s strength or performance.

The partnership expands CitroTech’s reach into new geographic markets and applications as demand grows for environmentally responsible alternatives to conventional fire-retardant treatments, the companies said.
