Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department has started construction on the Titusville’s Sand Point Park renovation project, reports Florida Today.
The $1 million project is designed to convert the nearly 30-acre park from one designed largely for sports into an area better suited for festivals and other large gatherings.
Plans include eliminating three baseball fields, adding a large retention pond, installing pipes for drainage and elevating green space. The new design provides a large open area with access to water and electricity for vendors.
Construction is expected to be completed in November, according to North Area Parks Manager Terry Lane.
