Berkadia has secured a $9.1 million loan for the construction of The Forge, a 35-unit, loft building in Fort Lauderdale’s FATVillage, the city’s downtown historic warehouse district.

Urban Street Development will develop the project at 401 NW 1st Ave. It will break ground this year and is expected to be completed in late 2021.

The seven-story building will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom units ranging in size from 781 sq. ft. to 1,350 sq. ft. Apartments will have high ceilings, finished concrete floors, Bauhaus-inspired windows, open entertainment kitchens, quartz countertops and smart home technology.

Community amenities will include a gym, garage parking, and shared access to the Foundry Loft’s pool deck next door. Meanwhile, the garage will feature an automatic parking lift system.
