HCA Florida Healthcare plans to build a $300 million full-service hospital in Cape Coral, expanding its existing emergency care site into a three-story facility with up to 100 acute care beds at 322 SW Pine Island Road, where HCA Florida Cape Coral Emergency currently operates.
Construction is expected to begin in 2027 and be completed in 2029.
The planned facility will span about 200,000 square feet. Its first phase is expected to include up to 100 acute care beds, an emergency department, operating rooms and a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Planned services include emergency, surgical and cardiovascular care, as well as inpatient and outpatient services and imaging. The hospital will also have capacity for future expansion as demand grows.
“This is an important step in HCA Florida Healthcare’s broader strategy to expand access to care in Lee County,” said Jyric Sims, president of HCA Healthcare’s West Florida Division.
The Cape Coral project is part of a broader expansion of HCA Florida Healthcare’s network in southwest Florida. The company recently acquired HCA Florida Lehigh Hospital, opened HCA Florida West Fort Myers Emergency and is constructing HCA Florida Alico Emergency, which is expected to open in late 2026.
“Partnering with HCA Florida will allow us to achieve those goals and serve our community well in the future,” said Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter.
Once completed, HCA Florida Cape Coral Hospital will become the 19th hospital in HCA Healthcare’s West Florida Division. The facility will also be connected to HCA Florida Healthcare’s broader network, providing patients with access to specialists, clinical resources and additional services.
