Construction has begun on the Sports Performance Hub (SPH), a $280 million privately funded complex in Homestead designed to combine sports training, education, and community development.
The project spans more than 100 acres, roughly 30 miles south of Miami International Airport, and will include academies for soccer, basketball, tennis, and football, a boarding school, residential units, a 100-room hotel, a medical and mental health center, and a 10,000-seat stadium that will host Miami FC.
SPH is the result of private investment from founders including former professional athletes Manu Ginóbili and Juan Sebastián Verón, as well as Miami FC owner Riccardo Silva. The stadium will serve as both a training facility and home field for the soccer club.
Officials said the project aims to combine athletic development with education and community engagement. Ginóbili noted the importance of teamwork, discipline, and resilience in preparing students for the future. Verón highlighted Homestead’s history of recovery and growth as a fitting location for the development.
No completion date has been announced. The facility is expected to serve both local and international athletes while providing community resources for Homestead residents.
