Turner Construction Company joined Baptist Health and local leaders to mark the groundbreaking of Baptist Health Sunrise Hospital, a more than $500-million investment aimed at expanding access to high-quality health care in western Broward County.

The new hospital will be developed as a modern, patient-centered campus designed to meet immediate community needs while allowing for long-term growth. Once completed, the facility is expected to strengthen the region’s health-care infrastructure and open to patients in 2029.

“This project reflects a significant investment in the future of health care for the Sunrise community,” said Kevin McCormick, vice-president and general manager of Turner Construction Company. “Turner is proud to partner with Baptist Health on a hospital that prioritizes resiliency, advanced technology and a patient-focused environment while enabling flexibility to grow alongside the community it serves.”

At full buildout, Baptist Health Sunrise Hospital will feature a 30-bed emergency department with triage areas and 24/7 emergency care, along with 100 inpatient beds, including 10 critical care beds. The facility is being designed with capacity for future expansion as demand increases.

The hospital will also include four surgical suites equipped for robotic-assisted procedures, with space reserved for additional suites, and a 25,000-square-foot medical office building housing a range of outpatient and physician services.

A key component of the campus will be a central energy plant designed to enhance operational reliability and resiliency. The plant will provide a dedicated source of power and mechanical systems to support critical hospital functions, helping ensure continuity of care during power disruptions or extreme weather events.

Designed and built with adaptability in mind, the project will integrate advanced medical technologies and flexible infrastructure to accommodate evolving care models and future expansion, supporting Baptist Health’s long-term vision for care delivery in the Sunrise area.
