Skanska to construct, renovate hospital in Fort Myers

Skanska signed a contract with Lee Memorial Hospital System’s Golisano Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida, to construct a new patient tower and renovate an existing facility.

The joint venture with Gates Construction is led by Skanska. The total contract value is $144 million.

Skanska will include its full 75% share, $108 million, in the order bookings for Skanska USA Building for the first quarter 2014.

The new 8-story patient tower will include a pediatric emergency department, and there will be a total of 160 beds in the new patient pavilion. The renovation of the main facility will enable greater efficiency for the hospital.

The renovation of Golisano Children’s Hospital will begin in April/May of 2014, and construction of the new patient tower will begin in April 2014.

Both the renovation and construction are slated for completion in April 2017.
