Emergency generator systems are being installed at four Lee County emergency shelter locations – Veterans Park and Recreation Center in Lehigh Acres, Alico Arena and Treeline Elementary Schools in south Fort Myers, and Manatee Elementary School in east Fort Myers.

The new units will be capable of powering the entire electrical system of each shelter. The current systems at both Manatee and Treeline Elementary are slated for replacement in that they are antiquated and lack adequate power.

After a lengthy bidding process, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners awarded a contract to Seagate Development Group to complete the crucial upgrades.

Development and installations will be carried out by Seagate’s Commercial Building Division, including all necessary demolition of old equipment, installation of new generators and transfer switches, all electrical underground feeders and hook-ups, system testing, and structural, concrete and masonry work needed for the new powerhouses.

Earth Tech Enterprises, another Seagate division, will assist with site work.
