Ocean Aviation FBO has broken ground on a $67-million private aviation campus at Miami Executive Airport, with plans for a new terminal, 13 hangars, aircraft apron improvements and expanded airside and landside infrastructure.
The project is being developed on a 40-acre site under a 40-year ground lease with Miami-Dade County.
Plans also include a 32,000-sq. ft. common-use taxi lane and ramp serving U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The campus will include the renovation and expansion of the Wings Over Miami Air Museum, providing a new home for the museum as part of the development.
Ocean Aviation announced the groundbreaking on social media, describing the project as a $67-million commitment to private aviation in South Florida.
“Today’s groundbreaking reflects our continued conviction in the South Florida market and our commitment to building a world-class FBO platform,” said David Chene, managing partner at Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, a project partner.
The development is expected to support jobs and economic growth in the region.
Other project partners include Miami-Dade County, the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and architecture firm Schenkel Shultz.
