Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) has broken ground on a new Fire Station 11, in the growing Lowell area.
The new station will be built near the Florida State Fire College, one of state’s leading firefighter training institutions.
At about 14,000 sq. ft., the new Station 11 will be more than triple the size of the current facility, which is just under 4,000 sq. ft. The expanded building will provide updated living quarters, additional apparatus bays, and improved operational space to support faster, more efficient fire and EMS response.
County commissioners joined the event, along with Flagler County Fire Chief Michael Tucker, Florida Division of State Fire Marshal Director Joanne Rice, and representatives from Dinkins Construction, the project’s construction partner.
Officials said the upgraded station will enhance emergency services for residents of Lowell and surrounding communities while also supporting training and collaboration with the fire college.
Construction is expected to move forward in the coming months, with MCFR noting that the new station will serve the county for decades to come.
