The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced that construction of the Jacksonville Florida Temple will begin following a ceremonial event scheduled for Jan. 24, 2026. Elder Massimo De Feo, First Counselor in the United States Southeast Area Presidency, will preside. Attendance at the ceremony will be by invitation.

According to site plans released by the Church on Feb. 20, 2024, the temple will be a single-story structure of approximately 29,000 sq. ft. on a 6.6-acre parcel at 3323 Loretto Rd. Architectural renderings depict an off-white exterior with rectangular windows, an arched front entryway, and a multilevel tower with tall, rectangular windows rising above the center of the building. The grounds will feature flower gardens in various colors, providing landscaping and aesthetic detail.

This will be the fifth temple in Florida, joining dedicated temples in Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee, with the Orlando Temple currently under renovation and the Tampa Temple under construction. The project reflects the continued growth of the Church in Florida, which has nearly 180,000 members across about 280 congregations.

In addition, the Church recently announced locations for two other new temples:

  • Coeur d’Alene Idaho Temple – A single-story, 29,630-sq. ft. temple will be built on a 10.91-acre site at Hanley Avenue and Coeur Terre Boulevard. The project will also include a meetinghouse and an ancillary building.

  • Calabar Nigeria Temple – The Church confirmed the location and released an exterior rendering for this new West African temple.
