Construction has started on a new Hyatt Studios hotel at Kissimmee Gateway Airport, marking a milestone as the airport’s first on-site lodging facility.
The project is expected to create about 300 construction jobs and 60 to 100 permanent hospitality positions once the hotel opens.
City officials and development partners held a groundbreaking ceremony July 8 at the two-acre site in Dyer-Thacker Commerce Park, across from the airport’s administration building. The 122-room hotel is designed to serve flight students, business travelers and visitors.
“This hotel reflects our commitment to supporting economic growth in our airport district and creating new opportunities for our community,” Kissimmee Mayor Olga Gonzalez said during the ceremony.
The project is a public-private partnership between the City of Kissimmee and Kissimmee Place Development Group (KPDG). A ground lease for the property was signed May 20, with construction expected to be completed by late 2026.
“This is about more than just a hotel,” said Juan R. Lopez, managing partner of KPDG. “It’s about enhancing the airport experience and contributing to the economic vibrancy of the region.”
The hotel is part of a broader vision to expand infrastructure around Kissimmee Gateway Airport, which serves a growing flight training industry and supports tourism in Central Florida.
