The Jacksonville Jaguars have marked a major milestone in their multiyear Stadium of the Future redevelopment project with the opening of Grand Staircase One at EverBank Stadium. The monumental staircase, located in the stadium’s southwest corner, officially opened Monday ahead of the Jaguars’ primetime matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. It is the first of four staircases planned for each corner of the stadium, designed to direct fans to the main concourse and showcase elements of the venue’s 2028 design vision.
Construction of the structure was extensive, requiring more than 850 cubic yards of concrete, 1,100 linear feet of handrail, and 96 cement trucks to complete the top landing alone. The landing itself reflects the wider concourse space planned throughout the stadium, intended to improve fan circulation and safety.
“This is our first step into the future,” Jaguars president Mark Lamping said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony joined by Mayor Donna Deegan and executive vice-president of football operations Tony Boselli. “Grand Staircase One provides fans with a glimpse of what’s to come as we transform the game-day experience.”
Each staircase will eventually be paired with escalators, offering an alternative to the wide steps leading from the plaza to the concourse. Gates 1 and 4 are now designated as “super gates,” providing direct access to the Fan Entertainment Zone in the Flex Field, which serves as a pre-game gathering spot.
The Jaguars said the project underscores the team’s long-term vision to modernize the stadium while enhancing safety and amenities for fans.
The unveiling of Grand Staircase One signals the first tangible public upgrade of the Stadium of the Future plan, which will continue in phases over the coming years.
